Episode 11: The Other Brothers Elric Pt.1

The episode opens up panning down on a town surrounded by rocky mountains, and Alphonse wonders if the philosopher's stone would be in a desolate town like it. He then mentions that until recently it was known for gold. Edward mentions that that makes it more likely that someone there would research the stone to make gold again.

A man cries out the name Elisa and the brothers look to the source. A little girl is trapped beneath a minecart and several men are trying to push it off of her to no avail.

Edward asks what's going on and comes to help. He reassures the girl and uses his alchemy to transmute the minecart into a large piece of metal to the side.

In an inn the brothers are treated to dinner as the townspeople marvel. Elisa calls Alphonse Edward's father, causing Alphonse to go white and Edward to get a good laugh. Edward corrects her, and she seems confused and asks "even though he's bigger than you?" causing Edward to get white and Alphonse to get a laugh.

A man bursts into the room calling out for Elisa, and asks if she's ok. She calls him Uncle Belsio and goes to run to him but her father grabs her arm. He gets angry at Belsio for having Elisa help him. Her father tells her that she isn't to help him out anymore. She defends him but begins to cough during her outburst. Everyone looks at her worriedly, and Belsio leaves apologizing on his way out. He leaves a basket of lemons.

Elisa says that Belsio told her her father used to make the best lemon pies and it's a shame there's so few farms left. One fo teh men brings up the philosopher's stone and once they have it they can buy fruit.

This catches Edward's attention, and one of the men asks if he came to help Mugear make it. They talk about how they want to go back to Xenotime being a land of gold. Edward says they'll go see Mugear. They ask for the brother's names. They tell them their names and the towns people seemt to recognize them.

The brothers are kicked out and told that the real Elrics are already in town.

In a mansion on a hill two blonde boys are in a room looking at a bottle of red liquid.

Edward and Alphonse are outside of the mansion and Edward is set on breaking into the mansion. He wants to catch the imposter and have him tell them about the philosopher's stone.

Edward transmutes to get inside, and the two blonde boys inside notice the lights.

Ed and Al have made it inside and are looking through a library. The two blonde boys find them. Edward immediately calls them out on being imposters. The taller blonde boy says that he must be the real Edward, but it's directed at Alphonse causing Edward to get angry and declare that he's Edward. The taller blonde boy tells him to calm down or security will realize he's there.

The taller blonde boy walks up to the brother's and asks them to leave quietly as he doesn't plan on fighting, and to let them stay just a while longer. Edward doesn't like his attitude and tells him to sit and the taller blonde boy makes a comment about his height. Edward tries to punch him but he keeps dodging, and eventually catches his hand. Edward kicks him and they get into a full on fight, and begin using alchemy. The taller blonde boy uses alchemy without a circle or clapping revealing he has a stone. Guards are then heard coming to the scene.

Alphonse and Edward are outside and they talk about how the taller one had the stone. Alphonse wonders what the imposters names are. He also wonders if the taller one is older than Edward, Edward punches him.

With the imposters the shorter one tries to convince his brother to give up the facade. The taller one tells him that no one will believe the brotehrs and they should just hurry up and finish the stone. He says that he won't let Mugear take credit for their dad's work and that if the worst happens he'll make sure that the shorter will get away. The shorter brother is not pleased with the answer.

A river of red liquid pours from a fountain, watched by a man. Lust asks him if he should be standing so close, revealing she is in the room as well. She says that there were intruders. The man says that the Elric brothers were chased away. Lust tells him the boys could end up being crafty, and that it's only a matter of time until the military learns of his research, and he should stop. Mugear, the man, pleads with her and tells her that he will complete the stone. She tells him to hurry.

Edward and Alphonse are still outside and Alphonse notes that Ed's face is swelling up. Edward is rubbing his face on Al's cool armor and Alphonse is glad that he's useful. Belsio finds the brothers and offers to let them sleep at his place. Edward asks if he's going to ask for their names. Belsio mentions they said they were the Elric brothers, he doesn't believe them, but believes they have their reasons for saying they are. Edward mentions that Belsio isn't interested in the stone. Belsio talks about how the other townspeople are unable to forget the wealth they got from gold, and that Mugear has them wrapped around his finger.

Morning comes, and we get a shot of Edward and Alphonse on a cot, Alphonse bundled in the blanket and Edward using his jacket as a blanket. Elisa is heard greeting Belsio. Belsio says that if she keeps coming she'll get in trouble. Edward and Alphonse come into the room and Elsia points out Ed's swollen cheek, and tells him that's what he gets for lying. Edward says that he's not the one lying but he's getting hit for it. Elsia figures out that they were the one's who snuck into Mugear's mansion last night. Edward tells him that it was, he couldn't let the imposters get away with it, and that using a philospher's stone to make gold is no small matter. Alphonse stops his rant as Elsia looks upset and Edward leaves. Belsio asks Al to go to the drug store to get cough medicine for Elsia and something for Ed.

The shorter blonde boy looks into the drug store and sees some old people gossiping about Alphonse. Alphonse gets shooed out of the store. The shorter blonde boy offers to buy the medicine for him, since he's lying.

Alphonse and the shorter blonde boy talk. Alphonse figures that they must have their reasons for using their names and isn't angry. The younger blonde boys that they had to use their names to look credible to Mugear and only the Elric brothers were young enough. He explains that they're continuing on their father's work after he disppeared. Alphonse comments on how that's the opposite of their own family. Alphonse tells him that if his brother is doing something he shouldn't he's the only one who can stop him.

Alphonse asks about how many people in town have a cough. The taller blonde boy is seen and the shorter has to go. Alphonse asks for his name as he leaves and he tells him that it's Fletcher. Alphonse goes to leave and sees that Edward is chasing after the older imposter. Edward tells him that he's been fixing things for the townspeople, Alphonse points out he could be doing awful things, Edward tells Al he doesn't like how he ignores equivalent exchange. Ed tells him they're going to sneak into the mansion again that night.

In the mansion Fletcher tries to talk to his brother but is ignored.

Ed and Al go and sneak into the mansion again this time sneaking in from underground. They find themselves in a corridor with a river of red liquid. Edwarrd thinks that it's the base of a red stone, that can be used like a philosopher's stone. That it was researched by an alchemist named "Nash-Something". Edward suddenly passes out and Fletcher finds them and helps them out.

Edward wakes up and gets angry at Fletcher, who starts crying. This stops Edward in his tracks and Alphonse tells Fletcher that if he knows something he should tell them. Fletcher tells them that the red water is very dangerous to humans but is vital to making the red stone. Alphonse asks if that's why so many people have a cough and Fletcher starts crying.

Edward gets up and says that he'll just smash everything. The older brother stops him in the name of his father's research. The two get in a fight using alchemy to transmute weapons. The older imposter transmutes a pipe leading to the red water and Edward blocks it with his arm. He slips and Fletcher runs over saving Edward but falling into the liquid. Alphonse goes to help him. From Alphonse's arms Fletcher finally talks to his brother, saying that their father wanted to bring happiness to people and yet they're making the townspeople suffer. That their father wouldn't be happy about this.

A loud whistle is heard and everyone turns to the source of it.

There will be a full summary of both episodes in the TLDR for episode 2. I just think it works better that way.

Episode 12: The Other Brothers Elric Pt. 2

The episode opens up with a man asking through the door if anything is wrong. The older imposter says that it's nothing, and then gets annoyed because he told them not to bother him. Edward says they don't trust him and tries to convince him to tell the truth.

Fletcher transmutes a tree over the door and tells Ed and Al to run. The men bang on the door and Ed and Al break through a window and run away. Fletcher apologizes to his brother as the men keep banging on the door.

The older brother uses the stone to get the red water off of Fletcher and tells him he shouldn't use alchemy because their dad didn't like it. Men burst into the room along with Mugear. He asks about the stone and the older brother hands him it, telling him it's fine. Mugear then tells him they need to work faster and to use the other method. The older brother tries to tell him they don't need to use it. Mugear gets him to agree though and puts the stone into some sort of contraption that allows him to use it without alchemy. The brothers are tied up and reveals that he knows that they're not the real Elric brothers but rather the sons of Nash Tringham.

Ed and Al sneak back into Belsio's house> Belsio is awake and knows where they've been. Elsia is then heard coughing in another room, she refused to leave and is coughing badly.

Edward tells Belsio about the red water and stone. Alphonse brings up the brother's reasons for doing what they've done. Belsio suggests they could be the sons of Nash Tringham, the man who discovered red water. Belsio tells them Nash Tringham was from this town and went to Central to research. When he returned he had given up on his research and wouldn't be returning to Central, that he's failed as a husband and father. Then Mugear approached him about the red water.

He researched red water for Mugear and the town once again had gold and flourished, but many babies died. Elisa was born then but an alchemist named Marcoh saved her. Belsio confronted Tringham and then no one saw him again, and the town declined again.

Alphonse tries to justify the Tringham's actions, but Edward says it's just an excuse. Alphonse says that they're doing something similar, and he knows how they feel.

Mugear has locked the Tringham brothers in a cell. Mugear tells Fletcher about the other method, having pregnant women drink the red water, so it reaches the placenta and condenses. The brothers are horrified, and Mugear says that they're like their father. The older asks if their father did that, Mugear tells them that he didn't, but if he did his life may have been spared, revealing to the brothers that he had lied about how their father died.

In the cave with the red water fountain Mugear tells Lust that everything is in place. Lust tells him that the Elrics could be difficult. Mugear tells her that two kids won't be any problem, and asks her to wait just a little longer. Lust agrees and then says says something vague about the fate of the town.

Mugear apologizes to the Elric brothers acting as if he was totally fooled. He than asks for their help researching the red water, trying to win them over by mentioning the philospher's stone, and saying he wants to save the town. Edward asks where the imposters are held, he's told and destroys the stone. He says he's not interested in incomplete products and that executing the imposters comes first. He freaks out Mugear by saying that he's itching to kill and asks Mugear if he'd like to watch. Mugear declines.

Ed and Al go to the Tringham brothers and asks why they carried on their father's research. Edward calls him naive and asks if he knew what the red water was doing. Edward tells him that their father knew and that's why he quit and they can't find happiness with the stone. He then sets them free and tells them to move on.

Mugear stares at his stained hand, and says that it doesn't matter as long as the research is successful. Ed and Al come into the room and Ed asks where Nash Tringham went. Mugear lies and says he fired him. Edward says that he doesn't seem the type to let someone who knew everything get away and calls him a murderer. Mugear then pulls out another stone and puts it into his contraption and begins to attack the brothers. He then fills it with red pebbles and becomes more powerful. Ed and Al get stuck behind a column until Fletcher and his brother show up and restrain Mugear using a plant. Ed and Al then crush Mugear with the column. The older teases Edward then tells him they're going to find their own way now. Alphonse then points out a secret passage that has been revealed, and Mugear is gone.

Both sets of brothers run through the tunnel only to find the entrance to the fountain blocked. Edward transmutes it away and Mugear shoots at them with a canon and says he won't surrender. Mugear shoots again but Edward protects them by transmuting the wall back together. Mugear falls to the ground from the force of impact, and Edward tells him he's on a different level. The cave begins to cave in. Mugear refuses to leave the spring and gets crushed by a boulder. The sets of brothers run through the tunnels, but the red water is overflowing so Edward transmutes a wall.

Outside the red water is overflowing from the mountain. Edward transmutes walls up to protect the town. Fletcher runs to a tree and draws a transmutation circle, he activates it and the trees begin to aborb the red water. His brother comes to help and the trees grow as the absorb the water and turn totally red, then they transmute the trees into blue particles in the air.

Ed and Al are on a train to leave. Elsia, and the Tringham brothers are seeing them off. Elsia gives them a basket of lemons and tells them to come back again. Edward asks the older if they'll be fine. He tells Edward they'll be fine, then asks if they're going to keep looking for the philospher's stone. Edward confirms and he offers to tell him how to make a consensed stone. Edward tells him he doesn't need it. Fletcher and Elsia tell Edward to come back and Elsia jokes about Edward's height. The train leaves and they all wave goodbye.

Edward notices a letter in the lemon basket and reads it. He is surprised by something in it and Alphonse tries to take the letter from him. The older brother narrates the contents of the letter as we see the Tringham brothers helping in Belsio's orchard. It's revealed that the older is a year younger than Edward, and he says that he's trying to be a better brother to Fletcher and follow in Edward's example. Then we finally get his name, Russell. Edward whines about Russell being younger than him but taller than him. Ed and Al come to the conclusion though that they'll be fine.

Episode 13: Flame vs Fullmetal

The episode opens up on a rainy day in East City. Edward and Alphonse stand out in the rain in front of Eastern Command. Edward sighs and complains about how Mustang will be annoying when they see him. Alphonse disappears for a moment before returning flustered. Then a yell is heard from inside Eastern Command.

Inside Eastern Command, Breda has climbed on top of furniture to get away from a puppy. Fuery had brought it into Eastern command as he found the puppy in the rain, but he lives in the military dorms which don't allow pets. He asks if anyone else will keep the dog, Falman also lives in the dorms, Breda hates dogs and Havoc jokes about eating him.

Ed and Al come into the office and are greeted, but a meow is heard from inside of Alphonse and Ed takes him back into the hall. Hawkeye reminds Ed he has a report to give to the Colonel before he goes.

Edward tells Alphonse that they don't have the means to take care of the cat. Alphonse says he felt bad for him shivering in the rain and asks if he can keep him. Edward says no and Alphonse gets upset and runs off.

There's then a flashback to Ed and Al as kids. Edward tries to convince their mother to let him keep a cat, but she shakes her head no, all while Al watches.

In the present day Edward is in Mustang's office. Mustang says he really did a number in Liore. Mustang says he didn't tell him to get rid of the Minister. Edward asks for confirmation that Liore is under the rule of Eastern Command, then if that's what he planned to happen. Mustang then brings up his other adventures, in Xentotime and Aquroya. Mustang tells him he should settle down, but Edward tells him he and Al have a purpose. Mustang brings up that it's been 3 years, and Edward says he'll find it no matter what. He then starts to leave before asking if Mustang knows anything about Marcoh, the doctor who helped in Xenotime. Mustang say he'll look into it.

Hawkeye enters the room and is soon followed by many other military members, including Hughes, and Grand. Grand says they're going to be using Eastern as a temporary Central Headquarters. The Fuhrer then comes in with a woman behind him who looks a lot like Edward's mother. Edward stares at her.

Havoc and Breda look in at the cafeteria and see there are a bunch of people with silver pocket watches. Also inside the cafeteria Hughes shows Edward pictures of Elicia. Hughes tells him that he's a Lt. Colonel now and is in charge of investigations. Edward says he should be in Central then. Hughes tells him all the important people are running from Central, then quickly changes the subject to Edward's quest. Ed tells him he's looking for Marcoh.

Brigadier General Grand then shows up after hearing Marcoh, and tells them that he deserted during the conflict in Ishbal.

Edward tries to hunt down information about Marcoh in a library but is finding nothing, and tells Al he'll have to beat the information out of Mustang.Hughes walks into the room unnoticed then a meow is heard inside of Alphonse and he tells Ed that it hasn't stopped raining. Hughes makes his presence known to let Edward know that the assessments to renew State Alchemist's certifications will be held there at Easter Command. Edward tells Hughes that he has a way he knows how he'd like his assessment to be done.

In the office Mustang's men talk about Edward requesting a battle assessment against Mustang. They wonder who is stronger, while we see Edward and Alphonse in a bedroom, Edward polishing his arm and Al watching the kitten drink some milk. It returns to the office and Fuery wonders why Edward would request it. Hawkeye says that if Edward wins Mustang has to take in the cat the brothers found. Fuery becomes disappointed as he now can't ask Mustang to take in the puppy he found.

Mustang then comes into the office and sees the dog and is delighted. He takes the dog from Fuery and talks about how dogs are great because they're loyal, don't complain when treated badly, and don't need a salary. He then calls them the servants to mankind. Fuery is horrified. Havoc asks Mustang if he's going to accept Edward's challenge. Mustang says he can't go all out against a kid, and it's a shame he won't be able to show off.

The Fuhrer approves the challenge, and Mustang is surprised by it.

Mustang, Havoc and Hawkeye all walk through a hallway, Mustang talking about how he'll be loyal until he becomes Fuhrer. Hawkeye tells him he should be more discreet. Havoc asks what his plan is that he's saying something like that. Mustang stops and says that once he becomes Fuhrer he'll have all female officers wear mini skirts. Havoc decalres his loyalty and Hawkeye continues on her way.

It's time for the battle assessment. Hughes begins announcing and then shows off a giant picture of Elicia which gets knocked over on top of him. He then announces the fighter, first Mustang who gets booed, then Edward and no one can see him, or if they can call him small. Edward gets pissed and then says it's a great day cause he'll be able to beat up Mustang. Alphonse says that they're indebted to him, Edward says the he's been overworked by Mustang who's using their seceret against him. Alphonse asks what his strategy is and Edward just says to hit him in the face.

Facing off Edward states the conditions, if he wins Mustang gives him his information on Marcoh and takes in the cat. The fight then starts, Mustang immediately blasting Edward with his fire. He continues to blast Edward with his flames.

Havoc explains to Fuery how Mustang's gloves work, the gloves being made specifically to create a spark and then he adjusts the density of the air with alchemy. Edward runs into the crowd and Mustang calls him short to know where Edward is and then blasts the crowd. In the resulting smoke Mustang thinks he sees Edward's sillhouette only for it to be a dummy, Edward then runs up from behind him to attack. He slices Mustang's glove so he can't create any more flames then creates a giant canon.

Mustang reveals that his other glove is the same and blasts Edward once again. It seems like Mustang will win but Mustang freezes, seeing a different, terrified boy instead of Edward. Edward takes the chance to put his arm blade near Mustang's throat. The Fuhrer calls the fight there, saying if they go any further it'll be harder to clean up.

The two are still cleaning up hours later. Edward asks why Mustang he held back. Mustang tells him about the Ishbalan rebellion, that he saw many awful things. We return to the scene with the scared boy, he's holding a gun and Mustang is ready to snap his fingers but they're at a stand still. The boy panics and aims the gun and Mustang snaps his fingers. Mustang says that Marcoh was the most sensible person there. Mustang says he should go see Marcoh. Edward says he wasn't told why Mustang held back, but then says nevermind.

At the office, out of candidates Hawkeye offers to take the puppy. The puppy jumps from Fuery's arms and pees on the floor, and Hawkeye shoots around the dog saying her discipline is strict. She names the dog Black Hayate.

In a bar Hughes and Mustang talk. Hughes says that there's a terrible civil war going on in Liore. Mustang says that Ed said the Minister was taken care of and the people would open their eyes. Hughes says the Minister is fine and encouraging the war, but he doesn't know if it's the same minister. Hughes asks if he'll send Edward back. Mustang says that Edward believes he saved the town and he'll let him keep believing that.

Outside Edward tells Alphonse that they can't ask Mustang to keep the cat as well that it'd be too much to ask of him. Alphonse agrees, then Edward apologizes to the cat, who is in a wooden box, he transmutes the box into a baby stroller and apologizes, then the boys leave.

Back in the bar Mustang asks for the real reason people from Central are there. Hughes says that state alchemists are other staff have been killed.

In an alleyway the man Edward met several times in earlier episodes kills a man

TLDR

Ed and Al return to Eastern Command. Alphonse finds a kitten but they can't keep it. Many people from Central have come and Eastern Command is being used as a temporary Central Command. Because of this that years assessments for the state alchemists are being held there. Edward uses this to his advantage and challenges Mustang to a fight for his assessment, with the condition that if he wins the fight Mustang tells him what he knows about Doctor Marcoh, and take care of Al's cat. They fight and Mustang seems like he will win, but Mustang freezes and sees someone else. Edward takes the chance and the fight is called there so they can clean up. Mustang tells Edward about Marcoh. Hughes tells Mustang that Liore is having a violent civil war, and Mustang says that he doesn't want Ed to know yet. It's also revealed that so many people came east because there's a serial killer in Central targeting people in the military.
